In Lititz, Pennsylvania, the heart of the region’s historic Amish country, Harwood International constructed 40,000-square-foot facility that accommodates the simplicity of the Amish lifestyle and the practical needs of a premier luxury watch-making and teaching facility.

The building was designed by renowned architect Michael Graves, who incorporated Amish-style influences in the architecture. The building was completed in June 2001, and is comprised of a silo flanked by two barn-like structures. A 40 foot tall timber frame feature occupies 441 sq. ft. of the interior entrance and was hand-crafted from 6"x 10" and 14"x10" Douglas fir. The stone walls use native Pennsylvania fieldstone in a 50/50 blend of earth tones and grays. Standing seam arched metal roofing systems are used on the barn-like portions of the structure.

Because the development serves as a watch-making training school, elements such as classrooms, a library, a cafeteria and other academic amenities were included into the design.
