
Spence Sowa joined Harwood International in 2000. He is Vice President of Development and is responsible for the oversight of all development projects for Harwood International.
Spence is also responsible for the development planning and operations for all projects within Harwood International's $3 billion Rolling Development Plan. Projects include creating and managing the development program, budget and conceptual design for each project, working with selected contractors and architects, running detailed construction cost estimates and measuring the results against expected market revenues. Development responsibilities extend to the project cash flow modeling, in-depth market analysis, creating the leasing or sales strategy and capital structure recommendation with development investment takeout or overall exit strategy for each project. Spence also oversees management and operations of Yellow Steel Crane and Equipment Company, American Parking Company and Marie Gabrielle restaurant, all operating companies managed by Harwood International.
Spence has over 12 years of experience in real estate development, construction, finance, leasing and capital markets. Early in his career, Spence led an Emerging Markets development team during the leasing and construction of a multi-phased distribution center for a global real estate investment firm based in Warsaw, Poland.
Spence is a member of the The Real Estate Council of Dallas and graduated from the coveted Associate Leadership Council, is a member of the Downtown Dallas Association, and the Central Dallas Association and is a founding member of the Nasher Sculpture Center's "Avant Garde."
Spence received his Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Texas at Austin in 1998.
